Why It Is Important to Replace Missing Teeth

The loss of teeth may cause muscles to sag and your face to look older. Unusual stresses are placed on the gums and other oral tissues when teeth are missing, causing a number of long-term complications like an increased risk of gum disease, speech disorders, loss of aesthetics, or a change in occlusion (Bite).

Bridges

A bridge is one way to replace missing teeth. If the teeth are present on either side of the missing tooth or teeth and are healthy and strong, we can provide you with a beautiful bridge to restore your smile. Fixed bridges are typically cemented to the natural teeth next to the space left by the missing tooth. A pontic (false tooth) replaces the lost tooth.

Crowns, which are cemented onto the natural teeth, provide support for the bridge. A bridge has the advantage of being fixed, as opposed to having a removable partial denture and brings your dental health to optimal appearance and functionality.

Dentures

There are two types of dentures.

1. Full dentures are used when a patient has lost all the teeth in one or both arches.

2.Partial dentures are used when a patient still has some natural teeth remaining. These remaining teeth are used as anchors to stabilise the partial denture. Replacing missing teeth has substantial benefits for your overall health and appearance. A denture replaces your natural teeth and provides support for cheeks and lips. This can give support to sagging facial muscles and may help to rejuvenate your appearance, preventing that collapsed in look that is common when multiple teeth are missing. Here at Smile Craft Dental, we can make your dentures in two different ways.

Conventional dentures: Conventional dentures are made and inserted after teeth have been removed and the tissues have healed. Healing may take several months.

Immediate dentures : Immediate dentures are inserted immediately after teeth have been removed so you will not be without teeth during the healing period. However, bone and gums can shrink over time, especially during the first six months after teeth have been removed. When gums shrink, immediate dentures may require relining or even replacing to fit properly.

Dental Implants

Why Have a Single Dental Implant?
A single dental implant can be a lovely way to restore a single missing tooth. This is because it will provide you with excellent aesthetic results. A single dental implant tooth will look just like a crown, emerging from the gums just like a natural tooth. Another advantage is that the implant post will halt bone loss that could otherwise have a destabilising effect on the adjacent teeth. Additionally, there will be no need for our dentist to cut down the adjacent teeth, which would be necessary for a dental bridge. Once treatment is complete, your implant tooth should look and feel incredibly natural.

Using Multiple Dental Implants

Multiple dental implants are great for restoring more than one missing tooth. It may not be necessary to replace every single tooth with a separate implant, as often just a few dental implants can be used to support multiple teeth in the same area of your mouth. Multiple dental implants can be particularly advantageous for people who have lost all their natural teeth and who may find conventional dentures uncomfortable to wear. It may take as few as two or four dental implants to stabilise a loose lower denture, so treatment can be highly affordable. Alternatively, dental implants can support large dental bridges, entirely replacing removable dentures with a fixed arch of teeth. If price is the only consideration , then denture will be the cheapest way to have missing teeth replaced.

Metal (chrome or titanium) – These are made with metal and acrylic. They are usually the thinnest, lightest, strongest and most stable.
Acrylic – With these it is easiest to add teeth in the future if they are to be lost.
Flexible – These dentures look great aesthetically and can feel very natural and comfortable.

Single dental implants start from $5,500. Cost can increase depending on need of bone grafting and other required procedures.

Denture cost can start from below $1200.00 to $3000.00 plus per arch depending on material number of teeth and type of denture.

Your bridge will usually take two appointments to complete. At the first appointment we will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by removing a portion of the enamel and dentine. Since the bridge must be fabricated very precisely to ensure you can bite your teeth together correctly and to match your remaining teeth, detailed impressions of your teeth are taken. The bridge will be hand crafted in our dental laboratory to our exact specifications, using the highest quality materials.
