Regular Examination

To maintain good oral hygiene it is important to come and see us regularly. When combined with good home oral care, this will help prevent problems from developing. Our dentist will gently examine your teeth for signs of decay or damage, checking for early signs of gum disease and oral cancer.

Digital x-rays of your teeth are usually taken every two years, unless we think there is a problem that requires a closer look. We may wish to take more frequent x-rays if we feel you are at higher risk of developing dental problems. There is no need to worry, as we only take x-rays when we need to and our equipment is safe and well-maintained.

What to Expect At Your Regular Check-Up

Our dentist will first ask about any problems since your last dental check-up and will update your medical history.

At your check-up we will:

• Check for early signs of decay or cracks
• Check existing restorations
• Look at your gums for early signs of gum disease
• Examine your tongue, throat, cheeks & lips for oral cancer
• Examine for signs of grinding and associated damage
