Infection Control

Effective infection control is an extremely important part of our practice, protecting our patients and our staff. It helps to reduce the risk of the transmission of any diseases and viruses. Potential infection could come from contaminated equipment and appliances in a poorly maintained dental surgery, and from blood and saliva.

We Have Strict Infection Control Procedures to Keep You Safe

When you visit Smile Craft Dental, your health and safety is our main concern. We have an extremely rigorous infection control program. Everyone here has received extensive training in our Infection Control Policies and we all follow very strict guidelines. We regularly review our infection control procedures and implement any updates that may have been recommended by the Australian Dental Association.

About Our Infection Control Procedures

Wherever possible we use disposable materials and plastic barriers. Disposable gloves and face masks are used for each patient and we wipe down all surgery surfaces that include the dental chair and worktops in between patients. All contaminated materials are properly disposed of and all our equipment and tools are sterilised before every use using an autoclave. This is a device that kills bacteria and viruses through using pressure, heat and steam.

After sterilisation is complete, they are properly stored until required. At the end of the day, each surgery is thoroughly cleaned. All our equipment is regularly inspected and is well maintained. All our water lines are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected at regular intervals.
We do go out of our way to keep our staff and our patients safe, but if you have questions about our infection control procedures then please do ask us.
